East Vows: the ugly house with the gorgeous view

There's no getting away from it, East Vows is a bit of a 'Marmite House'... You either love it or hate it.

Designed in the 1970's by a local architect with decidedly avant-garde ideas, it's a bit like a mushroom -wider on top than below.

That gives it the most amazing views over the beach, which is literally a stone's throw away. But unless your an architecture buff, East Vows is not about the outside. It's the inside that makes it so special.

Upstairs, the lounge has a dining table at the western end that can seat eight at a squeeze.

There's a pair of cream leather reclining chairs in the window, where you can watch the world go by...

and at the other end of the room, there's a matching leather three-seater sofa bed, warmed by the cosy, log-effect gas fire.

In 2015, we completely upgraded the ground-floor kitchen with new units, a new floor, a huge new picture window, and new lighting: over the winter, we will redecorate too, but everyone already loves the clean lines and spacious feeling.

Rooms we haven't photographed yet include the master bedroom and the second bedroom which has a single bed, and two bunk beds, with all the storage you could possibly need.

For more information, please contact Sally at Elie Letting who looks after the house for us and will do everything she can to ensure you have a comfortable and most enjoyable stay.
